Drug Discovery: Innovation by Design

Join this session to learn how a series of strategic investments in faculty and infrastructure at the College of Pharmacy has established a drug-discovery laboratory focusing on novel antibiotic, antineoplastic, and anti-Alzheimer agents. The collaborative and innovative nature of the work has been recognized with the awarding of US patents and a series of successful NSF and NIH grant proposals to further support ongoing efforts. A panel of faculty members engaged in the research will provide an overview of the College’s successful growth strategies and specific examples of projects such as using genetically modified soil bacteria to produce new drug scaffolds.
